Privacy Policy

Murmur collects no personal data. This policy explains exactly what that means.

1. Who We Are

Murmur is developed and maintained by Jordan Thirkle, an independent developer based in the United Kingdom. You can reach us at jordan@jordanthirkle.com.

2. The Zero-Data Commitment

Murmur operates on a strict zero-data model. The application does not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal information. This applies to all users including children.

Specifically, Murmur does not collect:

  • Names, email addresses, or account information (no accounts exist)
  • Device identifiers (IDFA, AAID, or any similar identifiers)
  • Location data
  • Audio recordings — the app plays audio; it does not record it
  • Usage analytics or behavioural tracking data
  • IP addresses or network identifiers
  • Crash logs or diagnostic data shared with third parties

3. What Is Stored Locally (On Your Device Only)

Murmur stores only your sleep timer preference using your device's local storage. This data never leaves your device. It is not accessible to us or any third party.

4. Third-Party SDKs and Services

Murmur contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The app does not integrate with Firebase, Google Analytics, Facebook SDK, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or any similar service.

The only network activity the app performs is loading audio files bundled within the application itself. No network requests are made to external servers.

5. Children's Privacy (COPPA / GDPR-K)

Because Murmur collects no personal information from any user, including children under the age of 13, the requirements of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and GDPR-K are satisfied by design. We do not knowingly collect personal information from any person of any age.

6. Audio Data

Murmur is a sound playback application. It plays pre-recorded ambient audio files stored within the app. It does not access your device's microphone, does not record any audio, and does not capture any biometric or voice data.

7. In-App Purchases

The current version of Murmur is entirely free with no in-app purchases. All payment processing, if introduced in a future version, would be handled exclusively by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). Murmur would not receive or store payment information directly.

8. Your Rights

Because we collect no personal data, there is nothing to access, correct, export, or delete. If you have questions or concerns, contact us at jordan@jordanthirkle.com.

9. Changes to This Policy

If the app's data practices change, this policy will be updated and the effective date below will be revised. The zero-data commitment is a design constraint, not a marketing claim — any change that introduces data collection would represent a fundamental architectural shift and would be communicated prominently.
